October 18th – First Annual Scavenger Hunt Fundraiser
Enthusiastic fun-seekers ventured into the wet weather to find places such as the War Memorial, the Chateau Laurier, the Ottawa Gaol Hostel and the Ottawa Public Library.
After an overwhelming response by the community, we were able to reward the racers and hold a draw. The combination of this draw, entry fees and a subsequent prize auction helped us raise $644, more than enough for a young adult to spend an entire weekend at the Rotary Home. A special thank you to:
• Spencer Studios
• Skydive Gananoque
• Saunders Farm
• Johnny Farina
• Modis
• Rotary Club of Ottawa
• D’Arcy McGee’s on Sparks

March 28th 2014 – Tour of the Wabano Centre
Wabano started out as Primary care clinic, where Aboriginal clients were referred, serving First Nations, métis, and Inuit in order of population. It was created through the Aboriginal Health Act, one of 10 such centres/clinics in Ontario, 5 on reserve and 5 off. In order to meet increasing demand the Wabano centre is undergoing massive renovations. The 18 million dollar expansion comes with funding from the province and private ventures. With millions of dollars left to fundraise, Wabano is being creative, renting out every inch of space, offering up each pillar ($25 000 donation), each tile, each room, each space for sponsorship. Every space is rentable to recoup costs, there’s even a BBQ area where deer, elk and moose can be smoked. Once 1.5 mil is raised, the large reception area will be dedicated to Rotary.
