November 28th 2016 – General Meeting with Elsa Lessard from the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service
In this highly anticipated meeting, a large turnout gathered to listen to Elsa speak about her experiences during WWII as a veteran of the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service – WRCNs (known as the Wrens). Next year is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Wrens. Therefore this was a very special guest for the Rotary Club of Ottawa Metro.
November 21st 2016 – New Member Induction and Visit From DG Nabil
This past Monday we had a VERY special meeting. The night started out with inducting Damalie into our club. Damalie, who has been attending meetings since last fall, is looking forwards to this new opportunity. With a creative mind and great attitude she will be an amazing addition to the club. To make the night even more memorable, DG Nabil spoke at the meeting and as always managed to inspire the entire room. November 12th 2016 – Rotary UN Day
Club members Françine and Timna got the opportunity to go to New York for this year’s annual Rotary UN Day. Françine and Timna were two of the more than 1500 participants that got to learn about how Rotary Clubs play a crucial in world peace and how they can help tackle the world’s most pressing issues.
October 3rd – General Meeting With Dr. Rebecca Miller from the University of Afghanistan
Dr. Rebecca Miller, Library Director of the University of Afghanistan, and also a member of Rotary Kabul, spoke to the members of the Rotary Satellite Club of Ottawa Metro about her experiences in her position. Dr. Miller will be in Ottawa this Fall and is looking to connect with local Rotary members and share her experiences with Rotary Kabul.
