April 10th 2017 – Trivia Night
The Rotary Satellite Club of Ottawa Metro would like to thank everyone for their participation in another successful Trivia Night fundraiser. This particular trivia night was in support of Shelterbox, an international disaster relief charity that delivers emergency shelter and vital aid to people affected by disaster worldwide. April 3rd 2017 – General Meeting with Leva Rouhani
In another fascinating evening, Leva Rouhani spoke to our club about the 14th session of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD1) which took place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 17 to 22 July 2016. The conference theme was “From Decisions to Action”s. The Conference featured ministerial debates, high-level round tables, thematic events, a World Investment Forum, a Global Commodities Forum, a Youth Forum and a Civil Society Forum, among other events. March 27th 2017 – General Meeting with Sheldon Jordan
This past week we were thrilled to welcome Sheldon Jordan to come speak about some very pressing issues. Mr Jordan, Director General of Wildlife Enforcement at Environment and Climate Change Canada and Chair of the Wildlife Crime Working Group at Interpol, shared with us how these roles develop and lead efforts to combat the poaching, trafficking and possession of legally protected animals and plants on a black market estimated to be worth up to $30 billion (U.S.) a year.
